Ah, here’s the difference

  1. They didn’t stand behind Claudette because of slut shaming and sexism- which clearly didn’t apply to the men whores of the movement. That is inherently wrong and unequal. Sexism is wrong.
  2. They didn’t stand behind Bayard Rustin because they were homophobes. Wrong.

Neither of these are a valid reason for non support of a person. Not supporting people because you are a sexist is wrong. If someone wants your support because you’re both black, lack of anti blackness is a logical and rational means to measure their deservingness of that support. We are moving AWAY from the past means of promoting sexism and homophobia within our movements and the way we do that is by withdrawing support from sexists and homophobes. That is why Stephon can not be compared to Bayard Rustin or Claudette. Not supporting them was made by metrics that don’t apply to Stephon Clark. Actually- based on HIS views- Stephon would have been on the wrong side of that history.

However sis, you are well within your rights to extend your reactionary, transient support to race traitors. I’ll continue to withhold it from sexists, homophobes, and charlatans that harm our community- deal?

All of the other points you attempted to make were already addressed in the article so unless you have something new to add, have a wonderful morning. ^_^
